1. International Tiger Day was observed on 29 July. The day was first established in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit held at Russia. In the summit, a declaration was made that the tiger populated countries would double the tiger population by 2020.

2. Meryl Streep won the inaugural Tribute Actor award in Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). It is the most nominated actor in Academy Award. The actress won the Oscar, three times. 

3. The centre's flagship healthcare scheme Ayushman Bharat implementing agency inked an MoU with industry body NATHEALTH. The partnership between National Health Authority (NHA) and the Healthcare Federation of India (NATHEALTH)  The main aim is to streamline all innovations it increases the efficacy of service delivery of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

4. Union Ministry of Mines organized an interactive workshop called ‘Waste to Wealth’ in New Delhi  The main aim is discussing productive utilisation of bauxite residue, commonly known as Red Mud.

5. Mary Kom won gold in the 51Kg category at the 23rd President’s Cup in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. She defeated Australian April Franks and secured 5-0.  In the event India won 9 medals. 

6. Max Verstappen clinched German Grand Prix with Mercedes' Formula One leader Lewis Hamilton. 

7. IPS officer VK Johri appointed as the next Director General (DG)  The order is issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) that is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has Home Minister Amit Shah as its member. 

8. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa government will win the trust vote with the support of 105 BJP MLAs in a reduced House strength of 208.  Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar disqualified 14 rebel MLAs from Congress and JD(S) under anti defection law.  He disqualified three other MLAs under the law.

9. Iran is to restart the activities at the Arak heavy water nuclear reactor, western Iran. The anouncement was made by Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization. Heavy water are used in reactors to produce plutonium. 

10. The government plans to conduct the Seventh Economic Census. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) intends to conduct the Seventh Economic Census of India 2019 by extensively leveraging Information Technology.

11. PM Modi in Man vs Wild: PM Modi will feature with Bear Grylls in Man vs Wild episode on August 12.

12. Article 35 A:  Mehbooba Mufti said, “we would fight till death any attempt to tinker with the state's special status.”

13. 7th Economic Census has been started from Tripura other states will be covered soon. Economic Census is a source of information on the significantly large unorganized sector in the country.

14. PM Narendra Modi released Tiger Estimation Report on International Tiger Day 2019 that describes present number and situation of tigers in India.
